Our #1 FAQ - "How did you get started selling rose petals?"
That is always the next question I get asked when people find out what I do for a living. It all started back in 1998 when I was doing a favor for a good friend who was recently married, but living out of town. She had her wedding bouquet preserved locally and it needed to be picked up, so I volunteered for the job. Turns out the woman was retiring and selling her freeze dryer. At this point, I was no longer working as I had two small children at home. After thinking it over for a few weeks, my husband and I decided it would be a good home-based business, something I could manage with the kids at home. We put a business plan together, got a loan from the bank, and became the proud owners of a commercial freeze dryer.
After a few years of freeze drying bridal bouquets, we realized the business was growing rapidly, so we moved part of it out of the house. We made freeze dried rose petals on the side when we weren't preserving bouquets, but it didn't take long before petals became more popular, so we needed more space and employees. Ten years and five locations later, we ended up owning a 7400 square foot building in a corporate park with multiple full-time employees. I am still involved every day doing the same things I love to do.
